The design report for an EV Conversion will contain the following sections:
Aims of the conversion - specifies what you want from the conversion in terms of performance and cost
Vehicle analysis - specifies current state of vehicle, and factors that will affect the conversion process
Performance analysis - specifies curent performance based on existing engine, transmission, and tyres - and maximum allowed performance based on Federal Government vehicle standards bulletin 14 - recommends suitable electric motor to meet aims subject to legislative limitations
Battery analysis - based on available motor option(s) specifies maximum battery capacity based on weight and space availability - recommends battery configurations for available motor option(s)
Customer desicision - selection of motor and battery configuration to meet aims of conversion
Detailed design of motor mounting and connection to existing transmission system
Detailed design of battery storage box(es) subject to Federal Government vehicle standards bulletin 14 and State Government requirements. Includes structural analysis and requirements for battery cooling.
Detailed design of high voltage electrical components (battery and motor control systems, chargers)
Detailed design of 12V electrical systems (power brakes, steering, heating/cooling, lights)
Detailed design of controls and instrumentation (in consultation with client) subject to Federal Government vehicle standards bulletin 14 and State Government requirements.
Detailed costing for components and services required
Work schedule (for DIY projects), including consultation with State Government certification engineers.
